“Do you know where you were wrong?” Su Jing He’s face was stern.

Fang Qing swallowed twice and nodded quickly: “I know, yes…”

“Dare you to still hide it?”

“Don’t dare!” Fang Qing said, regretting that she had such an unreliable half-sister.

“Be obedient or not?”

Fang Wing was stunned. Hearing his threatening ‘huh?’ from above, she hurriedly nodded: “Obedient!”

“It’s good to be obedient or I’ll clean you up at night!” Su Jing He snorted with a low laugh, his anger completely disappearing.

Fang Qing stared, wanting to ask where!

She was about to argue when Su Jing He narrowed his eyes evilly: “Anything else to say? Do you want husband to clean you up now?”

Fang Qing jumped and shook her head quickly: “No, no!”

After weighing the two options, it was better for him to clean her up at night! He might not care but she can’t do it!

“That’s pretty much the same!” Su Jing He smiled. Now he was satisfied and relaxed, pulling her to sit down on the couch with his arms around her.

Fang Qing muttered: “You always bully me…”

“Are your words reasonable?” Su Jing He squeezed her soft waist a few times without anger and said bitterly: “I’m your man! You were so embarrassed by that little bitch that you forgot it, right? Not trusting me? Wife, you weren’t like this before!” He said aggrievedly. “You’re no better to me…”

Fang Qing suddenly couldn’t laugh, feeling that it was impossible not to love him like this. Thinking about it, she should really be embarrassed.

She circled his waist and pressed her whole body softly into his arms, raising her head slightly against his chest and looking up at him with watery eyes. Softly, she said: “Where do I not treat you better than before? I’m right, your stubbornness has only gotten better! Who says your not my husband? But that is my maternal family, if you handle it, neither the Fang family or the Su family will have any face. I can only figure it out!

“Fuck them!” Su Jing He was very happy when he heard the first part of her words. After hearing the second part, he snorted. Seeing his wife’s slightly aggrieved look, he softened: “Forget it! Just leave it to me! Just thinking about that little bitch wanting to chase this master, I can’t stand it! Tsk, it feels so bad!”

Fang Qing stared at him with wide eyes. She thought for a moment, hesitating, before asking: “You… can you?”

No matter how unbearable Fang Hui was, she was still her half-sister. Not from a concubine but from a stepmother who was also regarded as a legal wife. If she was not good, Fang Qing’s own reputation and even the Su family’s reputation would be affected.

Although she despised Fang Hui very much, it was not profitable to lose her reputation for this kind of woman.

Su Jing He smiled evilly: “Don’t you know if I can do it?”

Fang Qing’s face flushed and she yelled: “What nonsense are you talking about? I didn’t mean that!”

Su Hing He laughed: “Then what did you mean?”

Fang Qing froze, glaring at him. She didn’t bother to pay any more attention and got up, raising her hand to fix her hair. Smiling, she said: “I’m going to see Mother, will you also come? It’s getting late so I will ask Fang Zhou and Ah Ze to come and have supper later.”

Su Jing He said: “I’ll go change clothes first, you wait for me!” He hugged her shoulder: “Little wife, don’t worry, don’t worry! Leave it to me, I still have a sense of measure!”

Saying that, he let her go and strode out, hissing like he had a toothache and shaking his head, thinking in his heart: How could the feeling of being chased by cats and dogs be good? It was really uncomfortable, so uncomfortable!”

The couple talked and laughed as they walked towards Madam Su’s residence. Along the way back, they collected their two sons and took them back to their yard. When they met Su Xin’er halfway, Su Xin’er wanted to hide and avoid them. However, she couldn’t escape and could only smile and timidly say: “Brother, sister-in-law!” before running away like a rabbit.

Fang Qing couldn’t help but glance at Su Jing He with a funny look: “What did you do to Xin’er? Why is she so afraid?”

Su Jing He’s face sunk. To say that he hated iron was not enough*. “Why do you think? I have such a sister! If she was not my full blood sister, this master would have used a whip and thrown her to the streets to fend for herself! Our Su family will lose face because of her!”

Fang Qing knew that this pampered and obsessive little sister must have tried to do something with Cui Shao Xi again. Feeling a headache, she sighed softly: “She’s still young, she can only care about these things. Cool yourself or your parents will be distressed and there will only be more trouble.”

Su Jing He said furiously: “It’s her parents that allowed her to become like this, why else would she be so troublesome? One day she will be famous in Shuangliu county, I will see what serious person wants her then!”

Fang Qing couldn’t help but frown. The control of the Su manor was very strict and no one dared to talk about Xin’er’s obsession with Cui Shao Xi. But if this girl really didn’t know how to change her behavior, it was inevitable that it would one day spread.

After all, guarding your tongue was something that people had struggled with since ancient times.

Su Jing He said again: “If I could, I would directly manage her marriage and put her on the sedan chair! It’s better than her being so noisy!”

Fang Qing smiled: “Then you have to find a suitable person! This is not something that can be determined in one or two days, you don’t need to get so worked up!”

Su Jing He heard the words ‘worked up’ and his eyes subconsciously turned towards Fang Qing’s body, causing her to stare at him fiercely. He chuckled and touched his chin: “Yes, don’t mention her anymore. I get angry when I think about it! If she doesn’t get married, its a big deal to support her for a lifetime.”

“…” Fang Qing glanced at him without saying a word. Was there any brother who talked like this?

At dinner, Lian Fang Zhou, Lian Ze, Ah Jian, and Cui Shao Xi all came. Lian Fang Zhou did not see Su Xin’er chasing Cui Shao Xo to entangle him and was both surprised and relieved.

Seeing Lian Fang Zhou, Cui Shao Xi’s eyes were clearly brighter and he became more energetic. However, he didn’t dare cause a fuss in front of his cousin and cousin-in-law, so he smiled politely when talking to her.

The hosts and guests enjoyed the meal.

Afterwards, they drank tea and discussed the garden. After a rough discussion, they decided on a time to visit the site and went back to their rooms to rest.

The next day, the group went out.

Watching them ride out of the house on horseback, Su Xin’er stepped out from behind a dense pomegranate tree and looked at the upright figure on the back of Cui Shao Xi’s horse. The more she looked, the more her eyes became fascinated. She sighed slightly.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to go, it was just that she was really afraid of her brother. She couldn’t help it, just had to avoid him for a few days.

Lian Fang Zhou and the others left the city and quickly arrived at the spot Cui Shao Xi and Su Jing He had decided on.

Getting out of the carriage and off their horses, the group wandered around.

TN: Does this author have an earlier book? I almost feel like this is the second book and FQ’s story was the first one! Damn, I really want to know how they met? I’m imaging FQ dealing with her stepmother’s schemes while trying to find a good husband to escape her maternal family, only to run into irredeemable rogue, SJH, who of course finds her adorable and interesting and helps her out until they fall in love. ❤ ❤ ❤

On another note, I highly recommend the author’s two other books on NU, they’re both very fun to read and well translated!

  1. Thanks for the translations! Your theory on CSX looking to SJH and FQ for ideas about marriage and class is interesting, that does make me look at his pressure a little differently, but I still can’t help but see him as self-indulgent because of all the problems he knows he’s bringing along and doesn’t solve (especially SX). Especially when it said earlier, “he didn’t dare cause a fuss in front of his cousin and cousin-in-law”, shows he knows how to avoid problems when they’re problems for himself. FQ’s story does make me curious, though.

    1. I agree! I think at least at some level, he’s aware that his feelings for LFZ are inappropriate, though I think from his perspective, its more of a ‘we have no binding engagement yet, so its improper to be too obvious’ instead of the more reasonable, ‘this girl is from a lower class and if I pay her too much attention, it will damage her reputation’, completely ignoring the fact that LFZ is very clearly not in to him. Maybe the idea of a country girl not finding him attractive as a potential husband is just so far out of his comprehension, he can’t pick up her disinterest? Also, I’d say that CSX’s EQ appears to be much lower than SJH. However SJH convinced FQ to marry him, it was probably a lot more classy. In comparison, CSX looks like a bumbling little brother trying to copy his older brother’s smooth moves and not realizing they’re not working, haha.

      1. “Bumbling little brother”; that’s a really insightful way of putting it. It’s also why I’ve never been able to dislike CSX, despite the trouble he’s caused. His efforts have enough thought to them that we can see he’s sincere; just too sheltered. 2nd ML syndrome at its finest I’m afraid

However, given Su Xin, I’m a little surprised that SJH has such a higher EQ and insight. Much as I know treating your kids differently is a thing, you normally see more dotting on the sons.
Therefore! Since we don’t have the story of SJH and FQ, my new theory is that SJH *used* to be almost as EQ-dumb as CSX, and that over the course of their long and convoluted courtship FQ managed to train him. You can’t prove me wrong!

      2. I think there is a saying in China, something like ‘be strict with the sons and spoil the daughters’? I think the idea is that sons are more highly regarded, as they inherit but their fathers are supposed to be stricter with them. I feel like this is more likely to occur in a rich family, were as a poor family would just straight up ignore a daughter and spoil a son. I do like the idea of SJH learning to be smarter via Fang Qing, haha!

  2. I just notice that NovelUpdates says this novel has nearly 2000 chapters. While on the one hand, I was happy there’s so much novel, on the other hand, I want to cry because I have the feeling we won’t be seeing a wedding until like chapter 1000.

  4. Thanks for the chapters!! As always it’s so satisfying to read a lot at once. Ah, how are SX and SJH full-blooded siblings? The difference is a little too big ok…. In the end, it’s really the parents’ fault. I wonder how SJH is going to deal with FH? This is so much rich family drama to enjoy–I guess it’s like the author is handing us an appetizer before we get to Ah Jian’s rich family drama? Lololol
