“Why wouldn’t I dare?” Madam Qiao sneered, angered as she stretched her hand into her sleeve. “I don’t need people to search, I can search by myself!”

Her face suddenly stiffened and the hand she had inside her sleeve froze.

When the crowd saw this, how could they not know what was happening? At this moment, everyone shouted, all asking her to take her hands out quickly. Even if she said she could search herself, would she find nothing even if she said she hadn’t? She still needed to be searched to be proven innocent!

Listening to rushing sighs and whispers of everyone and seeing the increasingly contemptuous eyes as they looked at them, Madam Qiao’s face was almost murderous.

She looked down at Fang Zhou’s siblings. Even if she did something, she had taken it for granted that it would be allowed as an elder. What’s more, she was really wronged this time!

Hearing Madam Qiao’s repeated curses, Lian Qing Fang shrank back in fear, her small body trembling like leaves falling in the autumn wind.

“What’s going on? What the hell is going on?!” Third Aunt came back from outside with the vegetable basket on her back. She was stunned by the scene when she saw it and the basket in her hands fell to the ground with a ‘thump’.

“Qing’er, Che’er! What’s the matter!?” Third Aunt heard their sobs and realized they weren’t acting. Her heart felt sore and uncomfortable and she wanted to rush forward and attack the people in front of her.

Third Aunt raised her head and stared fiercely at Lian Li and Madam Qiao. “Big brother and sister-in-law, do you really have to make trouble every few days to be satisfied? It’s not easy for a few children to live so can’t you leave them alone?”

“What are you talking about, you know nothing!” Madam Qiao sniped at her bitterly. There were even more piercing words on her tongue, but she still had two points of reason enough to know that now was not the time to make more enemies. She could say it but her face would naturally not look good.

Aunt Zhang sneered and said: “You don’t know, Third Aunt, but these two came to your house again to search! Last time they were alone but this time, we are all here and a purse was found on your sister-in-law!”

“Sister-in-law!” Third Aunt shouted, “You really don’t know how to repent!”

She was about to speak loudly about the embarrassing scene Madam Qiao had made at Lian Fang Zhou’s house last time when Lian Li suddenly shouted. “Bitch, you are so bold!” Everyone was shocked but it was too late. Before they could return to their senses, they heard Madam Qiao scream as Lian Li slapped her face.

“You, you dare hit me!” Today had not been a good day for Madam Qiao. After shouting at the door for so long, being humiliated by Lian Fang Qing and Lian Che’s words, and finally beating Lian Che to avenge herself, the enmity had turned into a disaster and she was being despised and misunderstood as a thief!

Even her husband, the master of their house, was slapping her in public, which was simply outrageous.

“I fought for you and you dare to hit me!” Madam Qiao’s face was pale as she stared at him with a terrifying expression. She screamed and rushed towards Lian Li.

Lian Li was ready for her. He avoided it and yelled, “What a daring bitch! Daring to be arrogant after doing something wrong! What a misfortune for the family! Our family is so unfortunate!”

Before he finished speaking, he slapped Madam Qiao two more times and she fell to the ground with a cry of pain.

There was a fierce pain on both cheeks, and it went straight to her head. Her heart and mind were both burning with anger. She stared up at Lian Li, screaming. She was about to get up and rush forward again when Lian Li yelled: “You dare to mess up again! I will divorce you! Do you hear what I’ve said? You dare to be arrogant?”

Who knew if it was fear from these words or the look on Lian Li’s face, but Madam Qiao, despite being angry and bitter, grit her teeth and stopped making trouble. She just lay on the ground and sobbed.

The crowd returned to their senses and sighed, whispering as they talked among themselves.
